Aeroseal duct sealing for Evansville homes

Your ducts are a big system hidden above the ceiling and inside the walls, and when they leak, the heated and cooled air you paid for goes where nobody lives. Aeroseal seals them from the inside.

Where the air in your ducts actually goes

You probably do not think about your ducts much, since they are tucked up above the ceiling and running through the walls. But together they are a big system, and when they leak they create an equally big problem. Expensive heated or cooled air can enter your attic, crawl spaces and walls instead of your rooms.

The leak runs the other way too. While the good air escapes, cheap dirty air flows into the ducts and then moves through your home. R.A. Heating & Air Conditioning applies Aeroseal technology in Evansville and South Central Wisconsin, and the main line at (608) 882-6221 is the place to start.

Sealing from the inside beats painting from the outside

Traditionally, duct sealing has meant painting sealant materials on from the outside. That limits the repair to the ducts someone can see, and poor painting technique can lead to errors. Much of a duct system hides in ceilings and walls, so the outside approach reaches only part of the problem.

Aeroseal comes at the leaks from inside the ducts themselves, so no leak is missed. You see the difference as better comfort in the rooms and reduced energy use. The ducts you already own get sealed where they were losing air, and the sealing takes very little time.

How the result is checked, and where the technology comes from

When the job is done, only 1-2 oz. of the sealant material remains in the ducts. Then a computer-generated analysis summarizing your home's or building's amount of leakage is produced. That report is verification that the process has been a success, so you are not asked to take the result on faith.

The technology was developed by the University of California, which was granted the initial patents, and it is licensed exclusively to Aeroseal. R.A. Heating & Air Conditioning provides it in the local market. The shop locates any problem areas in your system and gives you a cost-effective, state-of-the-art solution.

The Aeroseal process

Six steps, from covered registers to a leakage report

  1. Step one

Wall registers are covered, so air can only escape through the leaks in the ducts.

  2. Step two

Sealant is injected into the ducts for approximately an hour.

  3. Step three

Continuous air movement keeps the sealant particles suspended in the airflow.

  4. Step four

As the air stream makes a sharp turn to exit through a leak, the particles collide with the leak edges and stick, then stick to each other until they cover the leak.

  5. Step five

Once the ducts are sealed, only 1-2 oz. of the sealant material remains in them.

  6. Step six

A computer-generated analysis of your home's or building's leakage is produced, verifying that the process worked.
