R.A. Heating & Air Conditioning: Evansville heat, boilers and central air since 1980

Through Wisconsin's frigid winters and sweltering summers, a family and woman-owned shop with NATE-certified technicians keeps homes and businesses comfortable and safe. Emergencies get an answer 24/7.

A boiler swap, start to finish

Most of the work happens where nobody looks: the basement.

Three frames from one of R.A.'s own jobs. Old oil tank and boiler out, new boiler, flue and copper piping in, and a stone cellar left cleaner than it was found.

Stone basement before the replacement, with a fuel-oil tank on steel legs and the old boiler beside a blue cellar door

Before

An oil tank on steel legs and a tired boiler in the corner

Limewashed stone walls, a low beamed ceiling, the fuel tank against one wall and the old boiler tucked beside the cellar door. This is the room a family forgets about until the heat stops on a January night.

The same stone basement after the oil tank was removed, with the new green boiler installed in the corner

Cleared

Tank out, floor open, the new boiler where the old one stood

Same cellar, same blue door. The tank is gone and the floor is clear again, and the new boiler sits in the corner, piped in and ready for its flue and controls.

Finished boiler installation with a new metal flue, insulated piping, copper manifold and a digital water feeder

Finished

New flue, insulated piping and a copper manifold

A new flue run, insulated supply lines overhead, a copper manifold and a digital water feeder on the wall. Boiler replacements are regular work here: Google reviewer Tim May wrote that he was "extremely pleased" with his, done by Tom with Dave assisting.

One job, as the customer told it

AC out overnight. Running again before 11 AM.

  1. Overnight

Clint Downey's AC stops. He calls the shop after hours.

  2. Before opening

A call back comes in before the office has even opened for the day.

  3. That morning

The scheduler books him in, then moves him up when another appointment cancels. The rates are explained up front.

  4. Before 11 AM

Shane is at the house fixing the capacitor on the condensing unit, gets it up and running, and walks him through how the system works and how to maintain it.

“All in cost was way better than I was expecting! Also got along great with our very excited dog!”
Clint Downey, Google review
